16 Plays Battle for the Title: Chris Heise Play of the Year
EACH WEEK FOUR PLAYS WILL BATTLE FOR ONE SPOT IN THE FINALS.
FARGO (KVRR) –Let the games begin!
Each Friday in July we will present four plays to battle for one spot in the “Final Four” of the Chris Heise Play of the Year. The Final four will take place Friday, August 1 with a winner announced the following Monday/Friday.
JULY 4 NOMINEES:
Play 1: From March. The North Dakota Class A boys basketball state title game. After trailing by 20 at one point in this game, Kindred completes the comeback with a buzzer-beating tip-in courtesy of Brooks Bakko. The winner wins Kindred the championship avenging its 2024 loss to Devils Lake.
Play 2: From May. The North Dakota Class 2A baseball State Semifinals. West Fargo Sheyenne’s Jaxon Zavadil makes an unreal grab behind home plate to record the out. The Mustangs go on to win that game and then the Championship the next day.
Play 3: From November. The Section 4A MSHSL football Championship. Upsala/Swanville drives down the field for the win with under 20 seconds on the clock. Franky Meagher finds Jack Primus on the fade ball for the win sending Upsala/Swanville to the State Tournament.
Play 4: From February. North Dakota girl’s hockey State Semifinals. West Fargo United Payton Stocker scores a goal in double overtime to send WF United to the State Championship game as the 7-seed in the tournament.
