Runner Celebrate Fourth of July with Veterans 5K 10K

WEST FARGO — Veterans and those supporting veterans got up early this Fourth of July to take part in a Veteran’s 5 and 10K.

Bright and early at 7 a.m., veterans, runners, and their supporters gathered at Bonanzaville in West Fargo.

This is the sixteenth year Vietnam Veterans of America, Fargo Chapter 491, has organized the run.

Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is the only congressionally chartered organization dedicated solely to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. They work towards ensuring access to quality health care, advocate for POWs and MIAs, and supporting newer generations of veterans, and serving communities.

“They do flag classes on the flags at schools. They go into the veteran’s homes and to the assisted livings, and long-term care and visit with other vets and they, like I said, raise money this way and give it all back to the community,” said Bonanzaville Executive Director Beth Jansen.

The Vietnam Veterans of America also works with organizations like the Gladys Ray Shelter and Lisbon Veterans Home.
