MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KVRR/FOX 9) — A massive drug bust in south Minneapolis leads authorities to nearly 900 pounds of meth.

Two men are facing charges, 46-year-old Joel Casas-Santiago, of Minneapolis, and 44-year-old Guillermo Mercado Chaparro, of Chicago.

It started on July 2 when an undercover officer purchased one pound of meth from Chaparro.

According to the criminal complaint, officers got a court order to track a truck driven by Chaparro which then led them to another vehicle, a Jeep. After searching the two vehicles, officers found 251 pounds in one and 638 pounds in the other.

The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office is calling this seizure, “possibly one of the largest meth busts in Minnesota history.” Investigators believe that both men could be tied to a larger drug operation out of Mexico.
