Local daycare ‘Wiggles & Giggles’ hosted annual lemonade stand
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The Wiggles & Giggles Day Care has come back this year with their annual Lemonade Stand. After a two-year hiatus, the kids at this daycare are back in action.
“It started out as kids just wanting to have a lemonade stand, and we made like ninety dollars. And we wanted to figure out a way to give it back to the community, so we came across United Way was starting their school supply drive. So we went and bought school supplies and since then we’ve been doing it every year,” said Jamie Zastoupil, Wiggles & Giggles Day Care Owner.
The lemonade stand has been running for fourteen years. Since starting, the lemonade stand has raised over $5,000 to purchase school supplies for the drive.
This year, United Way had announced they raised the amount of supplies they are hoping to give out to 6,500. As the need for families has increased over the years, United Way is working to reach their goal. And the kids at this daycare are excited to be a part of it.
“It’s amazing, it’s amazing to see the kids light up knowing that what they’re doing is helping other children. And just shopping with them. They love to go and help pick out the school supplies, knowing that they’re going to kids that probably would not have brand new school supplies to start the new year,” said Zastoupil.
As of Thursday afternoon, Zastoupil estimated about sixty people had visited the stand. With many of the treats selling out.
“I’ve got some great families that help supply baked goods. And so I think I made three pans of bars yesterday. I mean, maybe a good week to get things really organized,” said Zastoupil.
While the lemonade stand was running just for one day, Zastoupil wants people to help as much as you can to give back to the United Way for their School Supply Drive.
