Fargo Police remember Officer Jake Wallin
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — It’s been two years since Fargo Police Officer Jake Wallin was killed in shootout that left two other officers and a bystander severely wounded, and the department is making sure that his sacrifice is always remembered.
A flag lowering ceremony was held outside the Fargo Police Headquarters where family, friends and fellow officers, including Officer Andrew Dotas who was wounded in the shootout, gathered to honor the legacy of Wallin.
It was a more intimate event than last year’s memorial at city hall. Focused on making sure the family of Wallin and those wounded know that they are not forgotten.
“Likely when you’re working in a place you don’t think it’s going to happen here and then suddenly something like this happens. And so it’s I think it’s just important for everyone to recognize that and to remember their sacrifice.,” Chief David Zibolski said.
Zibolski adds that they plan to do larger ceremonies remembering Wallin on the five year anniversary.
