Burris is charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder of a peace officer, two counts of first-degree assault against a peace officer, two counts of second-degree assault and one count of fleeing.
Yesterday, we named the two officers involved.
Becker County Sheriff’s Lt. Luke Sweere and Detroit Lakes Police Officer Philip Vaughn both fired their weapons
On July 9, a woman claims Burris assaulted her, took her gun and slashed her tires.
He was stopped in Detroit Lakes but then fled, igniting a pursuit.
The BCA says Burris pointed a gun at Lt. Sweere and that set off an exchange of gunfire.
Burris was hit in both legs and officers gave him aid until he was taken to a hospital in Fargo.
BCA agents are reviewing body camera footage.
