Fargo Tattoo Expo Celebrates Art, Live Performance

The three-day event featured multiple shows by nationally known act Captain and Maybelle.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Tattoo artists and enthusiasts gathered in Fargo this weekend for a three-day celebration of ink.

The Fargo Tattoo Expo took place at the Ramada Convention Center on 13th Avenue South from July 25 to the 27th.

Over 90 different parlors / artists set up shop at the venue, offering on-site tattooing and competitions for tattoos like Best in Show.

Chris and Elaina Steele, also known as Captain and Maybelle, did performances all weekend long, and Chris says there’s just something about the Fargo area that makes it a hotbed for tattoo activity.

“We’ve got a lot of working-class people here. I think people love altering their body and making it the way they actually love,” he said.

This was the second year of the tattoo expo, and organizers have already begun planning the third, which they say will take place earlier in the year 2026.
