Fargo Public School Board and teachers union finalize contract for 2025-2027 school years

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — After numerous agreements, the Fargo Public School Board and local teachers union have agreed to a new contract for the 2025 – 2027 school year.

Negotiations began back in April to determine the start of the upcoming school year’s teacher contract.

Both parties met eleven times throughout the few months to discuss the new adjustments.

All of the teachers working for the district will see a raise in their wages.

Compared to previous years, Melissa Burkland said that this year’s contract did not take as long, and both sides were in agreement to make changes.

“We had a really positive experience with this negotiation season. When we sat down, we both agreed that both the teachers and the school board we’re all on the same team, we all want a really strong district, we all want competitive wages for our teachers, and we all want the best for students. And I think that was something that we tried to keep in mind throughout this entire process,” said Melissa Burkland, Chair of Negotiations Committee for the Fargo School Board.

Fargo Public Schools will be back in session on August 27th.
