Former Fargo DEI Director Officially Launches Nonprofit

Dr. Terry Hogan says Unity in Action is not meant to be a direct replacement for DEI programs, but rather a rallying point for togetherness in the city.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The former director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the city of Fargo is moving forward with a brand-new nonprofit.

Dr. Terry Hogan led the first meeting of the Unity in Action Initiative at the Fargo Public Library’s downtown branch on the evening of July 31.

Dr. Hogan stressed that this initiative is not meant to replace DEI, as DEI was focused on policy changes at the citywide level.

Rather, this program is about building bonds in the community so that everyone feels more welcomed in Fargo-Moorhead.

“It’s all about community movement,” he explained. “It’s all about unifying. And this is what we want to do here in the city of Fargo. We want to continually unify all racial and ethnic groups.”

The unveiling of Unity in Action has been in the works since last October, with Hogan saying he really wanted the nonprofit to hit the ground running.

Unity in Action plans to have two more forum-like events before the end of the year.
