Garbage and recycling collection slowed by improperly placed bins

Fargo, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Public Works says that their garbage routes are being slowed down by improperly placed bins.
In this video, they highlight some of the damage that can be caused when bins are placed too close to mailboxes, bikes, and vehicles. While they work to avoid damaging property, they say the best way to avoid these problems is to properly place your bins.
They say their drivers are forced to get out of their trucks in order to move bins and avoid damage frequently, slowing down their routes and frustrating drivers.
“They’re driving a massive commercial vehicle trying to fit through a narrow little street, operating a mechanical arm that has 1200 psi and not damage anything. So there’s a little bit of stress on their shoulders too. To get the garbage collected and not damage something,” Recycling Supervisor Jen Pickett said.
The blue recycling bins have instructions on proper bin placement, and Pickett adds that even if you can’t follow it exactly make sure to give the trucks as much space as you possibly can.
