UND president shares university’s accomplishments and plans for upcoming year in State of University Address

GRAND FORKS (KVRR) — UND President Andrew Armacost gives his state of the university address touting the university’s accomplishments as well as plans for the future.
Armacost talked about the schools projected record enrollment at 15,019 students.
He says UND research has received the highest rating given by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
Armacost shared the university’s progress in returning the remains of indigenous people.
He also says UND is also planning on being a center for research in how to utilize Artificial Intelligence.
“Math and computers can do some amazing things,” Armacost said. “They can find solutions that we can’t as human beings, and we have to relish that, celebrate it, and develop techniques that allow us to keep doing that. And we’re doing that in droves at UND. We also have to know the ethical pitfalls, the challenge. We have to be savvy customers of what AI can and can’t do.”
A “Picnic with the Prez” event was held after the address on the front lawn of the University House.
