Fargo Police assist in investigating active threat hoax at NDSU

Fargo, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Police were called in to assist NDSU Police with a reported threat on campus Thursday evening.
Upon arrival, Fargo Police and NDSU Police searched the area, and did not locate any evidence to corrobrate the threat.
“At this time, it does not appear the threat was credible,” Fargo Police Captain Matt Christensen said in a statement to KVRR Local News.
NDSU says this was an incident of “swatting,” and that thest types of incidents are becoming increasingly commmon at universities nationwide.
Following a rapid assesment, they determined tere was no threat to campus.
They released this statement to the campus community last night:
“Tonight, the Red River Regional Dispatch Center received a report of an active shooter at the NDSU Library. Fargo Police and University Police responded immediately and determined the report to be false.
We understand how distressing these situations can be and want to reassure our campus community that your safety is our highest priority. All threats are taken seriously, and we are grateful for the swift response from law enforcement.
