White Earth Reservation man sentenced for sexual abuse of a minor

MINNEAPOLIS (KVRR) — A 20 year prison sentence is given to 43-year-old Joseph Schultz of the White Earth Reservation for sexually abusing a minor.
Schultz pleaded guilty earlier this year to abusive sexual contact.
The nine year old female victim reported the abuse after he was arrested on an unrelated charge.
Authorities say the abuse lasted throughout the fall and winter of 2023 and the victim suffered many horrific forms of sexual abuse during that time.
“The sexual abuse of a child is an unforgivable crime,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson. “Schultz violated a young girl on the White Earth Indian Reservation, shattering the trust and safety every child deserves. That child showed courage no child should ever have to summon. Two decades in prison stands as reminder that attacks on Minnesota’s children will be met with condemnation and severe consequences.”
