Feed the Hungry Tour Stops in Fargo

Richard Demers says that once he did research about how pervasive of a problem food insecurity is in the U.S. and Canada, he felt he had to do something to combat the phenomenon.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The Fargo Air Museum is known for, well, its classic aircrafts.

But on September 3rd, it hosted a different kind of vintage conveyance for a very special cause.

Richard Demers grew passionate about fighting hunger after seeing the problem up close in his native Canada, and decided to hop behind the wheel of his 1932 Dodge DK8 Sedan –

“It’s a pretty rare car, I understand there’s only about nine of them in North America. It’s the only one I know in that configuration,” he said.

to go city-to-city on his Feed the Hungry Tour.

He partnered with the Valley Vintage Car Club to organize a display at the museum, where a food donation would get you free admission.

Those donations go straight to the Great Plains Food Bank, who say collaborating with Richard has been a joy.

“He is very extensive in terms of his efforts to try and end hunger,” said Rebecca Knutson.

Following this stop, he’s back on the road, and even though his ’32 isn’t exactly a speed demon, he’ll be in La Crosse, Wisconsin by September 4, ready to raise awareness all over again.

September is Hunger Action Month, and Great Plains Food Bank urges everyone who can donate their time or resources to do so.
