Devils Lake officer who suffered self-inflicted gunshot wound transferred to state hospital

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (KVRR-KFGO) – Devils Lake Police Chief Jason Toso says an off-duty officer who barricaded himself inside a home and shot himself Tuesday is now on administrative leave.
The officer has been transferred from a Devils Lake hospital to the State Hospital in Jamestown.
Toso says officers responded to a home Monday night after a 911 hang-up call. The officer barricaded himself in the home and shot himself after an hours-long standoff that included negotiations with law enforcement.
The officer’s condition hasn’t been released. Toso says the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the investigation.
