FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Community organizations took time on this anniversary of September 11th to honor veterans and to help provide them with the resources they need.

It was all part of the second annual Veteran Stand Down event held at Broadway Square.

Vendors and services set up booths to offer veterans everything from free haircuts to information on how to apply for healthcare.

It was organized by Veteran Services of Cass County.

They say there are currently 40 homeless veterans in the county they’re trying to get into permanent housing.

“We work with the VA and their homeless engagement team, and we’re trying to find landlords, we’re trying to find those one-bedroom, single apartments and go help the veteran move in,” said Chris Deery of Veteran Services of Cass County. “We just have to find someone willing to rent to a veteran. ”

The event also served everyone a free lunch.
