Former West Fargo City Commissioner, forecaster Lou Bennett dies at 85

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR-KFGO) – A former West Fargo city commissioner who was also a longtime local weather forecaster has died.
Lou Bennett was 85.
Bennett grew up in South Carolina and served in the Air Force for 20 years before he joined the National Weather Service where he worked for 18 years.
Bennett was hired by KFGO shortly after his retirement from the weather service. He handled weather duties along with Terry Spies for about six years, leaving the station in 2006.
A celebration of life is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at West Funeral Home in West Fargo. The funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. A private burial at Fargo National Cemetery for immediate family will be held later.
