Fargo Anime convention kicks off weekend of family fun

FARGO — Fargo Anime is holding their annual anime convention this weekend.
The theme of this year’s convention is Obligatory Beach Episode, a type of episode that’s a common trope in anime.
Besides offering cosplayers a chance to show off their skills, there are areas for people to play table top games as well as an arcade, as well as a vendor area where people can buy colorful merch.
There is also a silent auction raising money for the Fargo River Keepers.
Guest speakers will be talking throughout the weekend, sharing their stories, skills, and how anime has affected their lives.
There’s even events for kids as well.
“On Sunday we have a huge kids event that’s going to be kind of a Pokémon theme where all the kids will be able to go through and battle different gym leaders. And once they beat all the eight gym leaders, they’ll get together and they’ll take out a very large whale piñata that somebody has custom made for it. So we have some really cool events for all ages all weekend,” said Anime Fargo Co-Chair Lisa Janson.
Day passes for the convention range from $15 to $40 for adults. Tickets for kids ages 6-12 are $25 on Saturday and free on Sunday.
