FARGO — NDSU held a ribbon cutting on Friday to commemorate the opening of the remodeled music building.

A large crowd gathered on Bolley Drive as the NDSU band played the school’s anthem.

Previously known as the Reineke Fine Arts Center, it has been renamed to Challey Hall, honoring the Challey family, who have made several contributions to the university over the years.

The remodel took about a year to complete, but was completed on time and under budget.

The university says the renovations modernize interior spaces, creating a more welcoming and inspiring gateway to the arts on campus.

Today, as we stand before this beautiful new addition, renamed building – appropriately so – we see yet another example of their vision brought to life. This space doesn’t just serve a purpose, it makes a statement,” said NDSU President David Cook.

The Challey School of Music serves nearly 160 music majors, offering degrees from bachelor’s to doctorate.
