FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Nearly a week into the government shutdown, several services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs are being affected.

An email sent out in the last week said that there would not be any maintenance and placement of headstones at national cemeteries.

As of Monday, Fargo National Cemetery has not seen any effect to its maintenance or services.

But Jason Hicks, Commander of Fargo Memorial Honor Guard, says that things could change.

“I really wish they would get their act together in Washington, D.C, and stop using veterans for their political gain. It disgusts me,” said Jason Hicks, Commander of Fargo Memorial Honor Guard.

Hicks says Fargo National Cemetery does not seem to be affected just yet, but could be if this shutdown continues.
