FARGO (KVRR) – A plea agreement has been reached for a Fargo activist accused of misappropriating money she received after applying for grants from the North Dakota Dept. of Public Instruction.

According to court documents, a change of plea hearing has been scheduled Oct. 20 for Faith Dixon.

Terms of the agreement were not immediately disclosed.

“We are pleased to have come to a fair resolution with the state. And we look forward to sentencing so we can provide North Dakotans a full explanation of what happened in this case,” according to Dixon’s attorney, Dane DeKrey.

The case was prosecuted by the North Dakota Attorney General’s office. Attorney General Drew Wrigley is withholding comment until the plea hearing is held.

Dixon is charged with five counts of felony theft of property. Prosecutors accuse her of applying for grants totaling more than $1,548,228 and receiving about $350,000.

Court documents say the grant application claimed the money would be used to provide middle school and high school students with free after-school programs and “habits needed to help them succeed in school and life.”

Dixon’s husband, Charles Dixon, was also charged in connection with the case.
