Moorhead QB Jett Feeney Makes Return Ahead of Postseason
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR)-Moorhead junior quarterback Jett Feeney made his return to the field Wednesday, October 15 vs. Edina.
“It felt really good,” said Feeney. “The first couple plays were a little rusty, but after that, I got going and had a really good game, so hopefully can keep doing that to the playoffs.”
As a sophomore in 2024, Feeney cemented himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the state of Minnesota. He led the state in passing touchdowns and passing yards per game.
When the 2025 season began, the expectation was another great season. But during the second game of the year, Feeney suffered a shoulder injury that would sideline him for the next five games.
“Yeah, it was definitely really difficult,” said Feeney. “I’ve never been injured in my whole football career, so it was definitely hard. Watching on the sidelines, watch my teammates play and have fun off, but I was on the sideline. But you know, I had to be a leader. I had to coach up all my teammates while I was injured and just be the best leader I could be when I was injured.”
Feeney made his return to the field in the final week of the regular season vs. Edina-a top 10 team in the state. He thrived in his return tossing for nearly 400 yards and four touchdowns. He also played the entire game even though that may have not been the plan going in.
“This past Wednesday night was a little bit earlier than what we wanted,” said head coach Kevin Feeney. “We were going to give him a couple series and once we got into halftime, he was begging to finish out the game, and I told him we would continue it as long as we continue to be in the game. And thankfully, we were able to finish it out there in the last 10 seconds.”
A game-winner in the final seconds of the game to fellow junior, wide receiver David Mack. Mack ended the game with 18 grabs for over 200 yards and four touchdowns. He is certainly glad to have his quarterback back on the field with him.
“Yeah, Jett’s our leader,” said Mack. “He’s one of the greatest quarterbacks in our state. [We] have great chemistry. That’s my best friend. So with him on the field, it’s like we can win every game in any game”
The Spuds are getting healthy at just the right time as the playoffs for Class 6A begin Friday, October 24. Ending the regular season with a win has this team confident in what they can accomplish.
“After Edina just beat Minnetonka (last week) and we beat [Edina], I think our team has a lot of confidence. We know we can win every single game. We just got to treat every game like it’s a state championship, and if we do that, we’ll be able to win against anybody.”
The Spurs received a 6-seed for the playoffs and will play 3-seed Blaine on Friday, October 24 at 6 P.M.
