FARGO (KVRR/KFGO) – A Fargo man is in custody after a short standoff at a Fargo hotel Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Fargo Police say officers learned Trevor Nelson, who was wanted for felony escape in Cass County, was at the hotel in the 1700 block of 44th Street S. Around 8:10 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the Kelly Inn & Suites and tried to get Nelson to surrender, but he refused.

The hotel was evacuated. Officers got a warrant to arrest Nelson and called for help from the Red River Valley SWAT team, Grand Forks Regional SWAT team, West Fargo Police, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, and the Highway Patrol.

After using a chemical irritant, officers were able to take Nelson into custody around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say Nelson was taken to a hospital to be medically cleared before being booked into the Cass County jail on the outstanding felony warrant.
