Northern Cass Public School receives Blue Ribbon Award
The school is one of three in the state to be honored with the award this year
HUNTER, N.D. (KVRR) — Excitement roared through the crowd of students as they were awarded this year’s Blue Ribbon Award. An award that honors the school as a whole for the work and effort they do inside and outside the classroom.
“You work hard, you take risks, you support each other, which was evident when we walked in here. And you live out what it means to be a lifelong learner and kind human being. You are the reason we are standing here today to celebrate,” said Terry Baesler, Superintendent at Northern Cass Public School.
Three schools in the state were awarded with the Blue Ribbon Award out of nearly 500 schools.
State School Supt. Kirsten Baesler presented the award to the superintendent, sharing her excitement with the students.
“Northern Cass has a statewide reputation for innovation and excellence in education. You are our leader in personalized learning. And more than just a statewide reputation, Northern Cass has a national reputation for being the best schools and the best systems of that growth mindset in this entire country,” said Kirsten Baesler.
For Terry Baesler, this award is special. Several months ago, he became superintendent at Northern Cass. Now, he says the students are what give him the energy.
“Over the last couple of months that I’ve been here and been able to be around the students, I think the students give me the energy. To be excited and to say, hey, we are this and we are proud of this, and I have bought into this. And I’m excited about this, and I’m excited to be at Northern Cass and represent the school as their superintendent. I just get that energy, as well as the staff, we just get that energy from the student body and just go with it and build it,” said Terry Baesler.
Nationally, the Blue Ribbon program has been around since 1982, and this year marks the first year states are taking over the role of honoring schools of their choosing.
