Driver Crashes Into College Basketball Team Van; Charged With DUI

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the driver rear-ended the van, then rolled their own car.

RAMSEY COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) – The Lake Region State College intramural men’s basketball team is maybe a bit shaken up, but uninjured, after being rear ended by a driver now being charged with DUI.

The incident occurred about two and a half miles southeast of Crary, North Dakota at 9:35 P.M. on October 22. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a 38-year-old woman from Devils Lake, driving a 2004 Infiniti, struck the rear of a 2019 Chevrolet Express Van. The Infiniti then entered the median and rolled.

The driver of the van and his nine passengers were all wearing their seatbelts and were uninjured. The Devils Lake woman was not wearing any restraints. She was taken to CHI St. Alexius and then to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with serious injuries. She has been charged with a DUI.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
