Fargo’s Distinctive Water Tower Wins Award

The 2025 "Tank of the Year" beat out more than 300 other competitors from the United States and Canada.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The eye-catching blue-and-psychedelic-orange paint scheme isn’t just a cool visual near downtown Fargo anymore.

That new water tower has been officially named Tank of the Year for 2025 by Tnemec Company Inc., a national provider of protective coatings.  Their annual contest seeks to find the most innovative tower in North America.

Fargo’s entry beat out more than 300 others from the United States and Canada. Outside of its radical design, the tower is remarkably functional, as it replaced three aging towers, holds 2.5 million gallons of water, and is the largest in North Dakota.
