EAGAN, Minn. (KVRR) –Former North Dakota State Bison quarterback Carson Wentz will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

The Minnesota Vikings quarterback initially injured his shoulder in the first half against the Cleveland Browns on October 5 in London. He returned to the game in the second half and led a game-winning drive to defeat the Browns 21-17.

Wentz ends his season with a 2-3 record in five starts. He was 110-for-169 passing (65%), tossing for 1,216 yards and 6 TDs. He also threw 5 interceptions.

Wentz signed a one-year deal with Minnesota in August after the team traded backup Sam Howell to the Eagles.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport: “Details on Carson Wentz: In the first half of the London game, Wentz suffered a dislocation that tore his labrum and fractured the socket, per The Insiders. He gutted out 2.5 more games for the #Vikings with a big stabilizing brace, while JJ McCarthy (high-ankle) recovered.”

J.J. McCarthy and Max Brosmer are the only remaining quarterbacks on the Minnesota Vikings roster.
