FARGO — The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce is starting an initiative to get more people involved in their communities.

They are launching the Civic Engagement Center and are hoping to help shape the next community leaders.

It will be a website rather than a physical location where people and businesses can learn about their local representatives and other political offices.

Businesses will also be able to sign up to give time to their employees to volunteer for various civic projects.

The chamber rolled it out during a launch ceremony on Wednesday.

“We’re at a vital time that we need that leadership. So, we are hoping that the center for civic engagement will help to bring new opportunities to light, but it will also help to empower people to think differently about not only is this an opportunity, each of us has a responsibility to try to play a role in that,” said chamber president and CEO Shannon Full.

Full also said they are very interested in partnering with any groups also interested in advancing civic engagement.
