NDSU, Dickinson State Team Up to Provide Western North Dakota with Pharmacy Education

North Dakota State University currently has the only school of pharmacy in the entire state. Now, students at DSU will have access to that program.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Dickinson State University and NDSU are teaming up to bring pharmacological education to western North Dakota.

Those involved with the creation of the partnership says the need for pharmacists in that area of the state is dire.

“People are reporting things like that they haven’t been able to take a vacation for themselves because there’s no-one to cover for them,” said Dr. Amy Werremeyer, Chair of the School of Pharmacy at NDSU. “I know of a pharmacy that closed in western North Dakota because they couldn’t find staff to keep it open.”

Unfortunately, in Dickinson, the closest option for pharmacy school was in Fargo, meaning many simply didn’t view it as a viable option.

Now, though, Blue Hawks will be able to get their education via this school link, starting in this upcoming spring semester.

This agreement between NDSU and Dickinson State is similar to one signed with Concordia College back in June, which will allow Cobbers to begin their pharmacist studies at Concordia before transferring over to NDSU.
