GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — UND hosts the president of Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector to discuss his perspectives on national security for the future.

The event is connected to the ongoing second annual Space Operations Summit and as part of the university’s ongoing speaker series called “UND LEADS: Broad Perspectives on National Security”.

Ben Davies with Northrop Grumman oversees the delivery of missiles and other tactical weapons systems critical to America’s land-based deterrence capabilities.

He says the future of security is changing a lot.

“I think it’s a testament to the effectiveness of those systems that, you know, we have not had to use them in anger and in fact, if you look at the relative peace and security we’ve achieved as a nation, especially on our homeland is a testament to the fact that these systems have been effective deterrence for all those years,” said Davies.

The university’s summit is also focusing on the rapidly evolving domain of space and NASA’s mission to return to the moon.
