FARGO, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) — Cass County prosecutors have charged a Horace man with manslaughter, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and child neglect in the shooting death of his girlfriend in the apartment the two shared in Horace.

Derrick Lobbo, 21, was taken in for questioning not long after the shooting of 23-year-old Sakeena Khaadi last Wednesday morning. He was initially jailed on outstanding warrants.

Lobbo left the apartment after the shooting and went to a nearby clinic, seeking help for Khaadi. His 2-year-old daughter was still in the apartment when Cass County deputies got to the scene.

Court documents say Khaadi died of a single gunshot wound from a handgun. The bullet struck her in the chest after going through her forearm. Lobbo’s next court appearance is set for December.
