Devils Lake attorney appointed judge in the Northeast Judicial District

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) — Gov. Kelly Armstrong appointed Devils Lake attorney Ashley Samuelson as a judge in the Northeast Judicial District.

She was one of three finalists for the position.

Samuelson has served as a staff attorney for the Northeast Judicial District since 2017.

She’s from Edmore, North Dakota. Samuelson received her bachelor’s degree from UND and her law degree from the UND School of Law in 2007.

She will take over for Judge Donovan Foughty who retired on September 30.

The Northeast Judicial District includes 11 counties: Benson, Bottineau, Cavalier, McHenry, Pembina, Pierce, Ramsey, Renville, Rolette, Towner and Walsh.
