FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Local Girl Scouts are gearing up for the holiday season – and a big cookie-related announcement.

This Saturday, the Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons retail location held their Holiday with Heart event.

Anything you could fit in a stocking was 20% off, and shoppers who spent more than $75 received a free surprise.

There was also a craft-making station where the scouts were collecting donations for local food banks.

Organizers say it’s a day that gets scouts of all ages involved with the community.

“It is really important. We have a couple of our older girls who are helping today, too,” said Andrea Magnusson, member engagement manager. “They’re not necessarily participating in the activities, but they’re helping to serve hot chocolate, and make sure our craft stations are staying neat and orderly, and helping the girls complete the gifts that they’re making.”

Now, for the big announcement.

In January, at an event at the Fargodome, the scouts will be unveiling a brand-new cookie flavor for sale this year.

Inside sources indicate it will be something similar to Rocky Road ice cream.
