FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – It’s one of the busiest shopping seasons of the year, and Love Your Local is attempting to give folks every opportunity to keep their dollar in the community.

The organization held its seventh Small Business Expo, this time at the Hilton Garden Inn.

There were over 60 vendors selling everything from apparel to collectibles and fresh-baked cookies – and Love Your Local made sure there were festive seasonal touches, with Santa making an appearance and SheyWest bringing in live Christmas trees.

Event staff say this is the best time of year to buy from small businesses.

“What’s the first business you think of when you need a fundraiser, a bake sale, a hockey tournament? You go to the small businesses, right? Because you can talk to the owner,” said Indira Kovaci of Love Your Local FM Area. “That’s what this event is. You have over 60 small business owners here. They are the backbone of the community, and it’s so important to support them.”

Shoppers also had the opportunity to register for tickets to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra perform at the Fargodome on December 30.
