Charges dropped against man wanted for fatal Fargo shooting, but remains in custody
FARGO (KVRR) – Prosecutors have dropped murder charges against Tyrque Jones, the 20-year-old Fargo man who had been on the run from police, wanted for a fatal shooting in downtown Fargo in August.
Jones was recently arrested in Minneapolis. Police had been searching for Jones with an arrest warrant for the murder of Azeem Holmes, who was killed in a shooting in the 50 block of Broadway North outside of District 64.
Police say Jones is no longer considered a suspect in the death of Holmes.
“Information Jones provided to investigators helped to corroborate actions in the video and redirect the focus of the investigation to another individual as a potential suspect.”
Police declined to say whether they’re seeking a specific person or persons.
Jones remains in custody. He will be extradited on charges of Terrorizing and Probation Violation, which is a separate matter from the homicide case.
