Fargo Park District ‘cybersecurity event’ under investigation

FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – Third-party forensic specialists and legal counsel are working to determine the full scope of a cybersecurity event within the Fargo Park District.
The cybersecurity event was discovered on Oct. 27. It caused temporary disruptions to phone, email, and internal systems. During that time, people visiting Fargo Park District websites saw a message alerting them to the outage.
The Park District says all essential programs, services, and facilities remained fully operational. While the cybersecurity event happened in late October, Executive Director Susan Faus says Fargo Parks did not have enough confirmed information to make the announcement until Friday. She says the decision regarding the timing of the public notification followed guidance from cybersecurity experts.
Faus says the investigation is ongoing and Fargo Parks will continue providing updates as additional, verified information becomes available.
A spokesperson says if the forensic review confirms that any personal information was affected, Fargo Parks will work to notify those people.
