EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (KVRR-KFGO) – You can get out of paying parking tickets in East Grand Forks during the month of December.

The East Grand Forks City Council approved the continuation of the police department’s program that allows officers to collect food or cash donations in place of fines for certain parking violations.

The donations collected will be donated to the East Grand Forks Food Shelf.

People who receive seasonal parking or snow removal parking tickets can clear their fine with a donation of five non-perishable food items.

If you get a parking ticket, you can also pay the fine and designate that the money goes to the food shelf.

People who don’t get a ticket in December are also encouraged to donate to the food shelf. Donations can be dropped off any time at the East Grand Forks Police Department at 520 Demers Avenue.
