Final Farewell for The Spirit Room

The space has been cleared out since October, but those who loved the non-profit wanted one more chance to meet up and say goodbye.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Back in September, a downtown Fargo institution announced its closure.

On Saturday, the people who loved The Spirit Room gathered for one final goodbye.

Executive Director Dawn Morgan organized a formal lunch and program at The Fine Arts Club on the afternoon of December 14.

The non-profit organization offered yoga, meditation, dance classes, exhibitions, readings and performances for more than 25 years.

The space officially closed in October, but people who attended many those events wanted to gather one last time to bid it farewell.

Morgan reminisced on how it felt to finally close this chapter of The Spirit Room.

“We were allowed to just go ahead and do what we wanted to do, and it just came together so nicely,” she said. “And I can say for sure that as we were closing, everything went just as nicely. It was kind of rolling out the rug and then rolling it back up again and then we were gone. It was all very sweet.”

Morgan added that she hoped a similar organization was able to inhabit the space in the future – specifically one that offered yoga classes and similar cultural experiences.
