City crews expect to be battling icy roads until warm trend ends

FARGO — Thursday night’s fog left metro with a Christmas present of slick road conditions on Friday morning.
Crew were out in full force on Friday, getting the ice off the roads for people headed to work or to returning presents.
While side streets remained slick for much of the day, crews were able quickly remove the ice from the main roads and intersections.
Public Works Director Ben Dow says crews have been working hard to keep the roads clear of ice.
“We’re going to probably see another little round of this moisture, mist, maybe freezing rain,” said Fargo Public Works Director Ben Down. “And with the ground frozen as it is right now it just freezes on contact. And so we’ll be probably battling this in and out for the next couple days until we can cool off and stay below freezing.”
Dow is also asking home owners to salt their sidewalks to help keep them ice free as well.
