Late Rep. Melissa Hortman’s children ask President Trump to remove a conspiracy video suggesting Gov. Walz was involved

ST. PAUL (KVRR/FOX 9) — Rep. Melissa Hortman’s son and daughter are asking President Donald Trump to remove a conspiracy video suggesting Gov. Tim Walz was involved in Hortman’s assassination.
The video was shared Saturday afternoon on Truth Social.
It pulls from a conspiracy theory that mostly leans on the fact that the accused gunman, Vance Boelter, was appointed by Walz to serve on a state board and that Hortman was the sole Democrat who voted to strip healthcare benefits from undocumented immigrants.
Gov. Walz supported the compromise in order to get a budget passed.
Hortman and her husband and dog were shot and killed last summer while Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were also shot and wounded.
Boelter remains in custody for the shootings and authorities believe he acted alone.
People on both sides of the aisle in Minnesota have denounced the conspiracy theories.
In the letter to Trump, the Hortman’s children also ask for an apology and wrote: Words matter. Sharing fake news is dangerous.
