Former Rothsay clerk who stole from city pleads guilty, sentenced to home detention

ROTHSAY, Minn. (KVRR) – A former city clerk from Rothsay who stole thousands of dollars from the city has been sentenced after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Court documents say 38-year-old Lisa Marie Zimmerman was sentenced to 30 days of electronic home monitoring and five years of supervised probation.

A judge also ordered Zimmerman to pay a fine and restitution of more than $67,000.

Zimmerman pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft. Nine other charges were dismissed.

Zimmerman was accused of taking cash utility payments and not depositing them into city accounts.  She was also accused of collecting money for a local cancer patient and placing the donations into her own account.
