ST. PAUL (KVRR) — One day after announcing he is no longer running for office, a defiant Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz answered questions about why he’s getting out of the race.

Walz told reporters that stepping aside was a decision that he made with his family and says it did not involve pressure from the DFL party, and that it was his decision alone

Walz pointed out that while he has not been perfect at the job, he has done the best that he can.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Walz said. “And you can make all your requests for me to resign; over my dead body will that happen. I will fight this thing till the very end to make this state better. And the question that I think they need to decide is when does the guy in the White House resign.”

Walz says a “war is being waged” against the state by President Trump, pointing out that an additional 2,000 ICE agents were recently sent to Minnesota.
