Assistant U.S. Attorney Thompson and five others resign from U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota

ST. PAUL (KVRR/FOX 9) — The face of Minnesota fraud investigations has resigned.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson is among six prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota who quit in the wake of a reported investigation into the widow of Renee Good, the woman shot and killed by an ICE agent last week.
Thompson was the lead prosecutor in the Feeding Our Future fraud investigation.
Gov. Tim Walz in a statement on the resignations said it is the latest sign that President Trump is pushing nonpartisan career professionals out and replacing them with political loyalists.
Joe Thompson is a principled public servant who spent more than a decade achieving justice for Minnesotans. This is a huge loss for our state,” said Walz. “This is the latest sign that President Trump is pushing nonpartisan career professionals out of the Department of Justice and replacing them with his sycophants.”
