WATCH: Rep. Ilhan Omar sprayed with unknown substance during town hall in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (KVRR/FOX/FOX9) — A major disturbance at Rep. Ilhan Omar’s town hall event in Minneapolis.
A man sprayed Omar with a substance as she was calling for Homeland Security Secretary Noem to resign or face impeachment.
He was quickly detained and removed from the room.
There is no word on what the substance was.
According to Minneapolis Police Department, officers working at the event immediately arrested the man.
He has since been booked into Hennepin County Jail for third-degree assault.
Omar continued to speak afterward.
It was the Democrats first town hall of the year and held in the wake of deadly shootings by federal immigration officials in the city.
“We are thankful for the security team and bystanders that kept Representative Omar safe this evening. Thank you to the police that have the perpetrator in custody. The constant personal attacks on Representative Omar have led to this moment and must stop,” said DFL Party Chair Richard Carlbom.
“We call on all Minnesotans to join us in the condemnation of this attack. Your voice matters and we need you to denounce this act of political violence.”
