North Dakota State University welcomes new Interim President Rick Berg

Interim President NDSU

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — NDSU President David Cook introduces the newly named Interim President Rick Berg on campus.

Berg is a graduate of NDSU and a former one-term Republican U.S. House Representative for North Dakota.

His background is in real estate.

Berg says his goals as interim president will be to work with legislative leaders and prepare for the next President.

While he does not have a background in serving in education, he believes that with his dedication to serving his alum he will do the best he can.

“I just saw a tremendous team here at NDSU. Within the last couple of days, I’ve met faculty, I’ve met staff, I’ve met students. It’s exciting to have this group, from top to bottom, they care about NDSU, they care about the future, and again it’ll be fun to be a part of that,” said Berg.

Berg is expected to start his role on Monday as Cook leaves for a role as president of Iowa State University.
