CASS COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) — A hot air balloon hitting a power line in rural Cass County is under investigation.

A Cass County Sheriff’s Office deputy was sent out around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to the 4500 block of 135th Avenue SE.

Cass County Electric Cooperative contacted authorities after one of its distribution lines was snapped.

No one was hurt.

The incident has racked up about $1,000 in needed repairs.

The sheriff’s office says the operator of the hot air balloon is part of a group conducting practice runs.

The group wants to set a new world record for travel in a homemade airship. Cass County Sheriff’s Office posted video to its Facebook page.
