FARGO (KVRR) – Local Girl Scouts began selling cookies on Monday, including a new variety that’s available this year.

The newest addition to the eleven different types of cookies is the Exploremores which is a rocky road ice cream inspired cookie.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program helps girl scouts develop essential skills such as decision making, money management, people skills, and more.

All of the net revenue raised through the program stays with the local council and troops which helps fund community improving projects or donations to a good cause.

“Everybody likes cookies, I call them like my little boxes of happiness. And you talk about girl scout cookies everybody smiles just like you’re smiling, it makes your day just a little bit better,” said Krista Williams of Fargo, a girl scout volunteer and mother of a two girl scouts.

There are nine varieties of Girl Scout cookies available this year.
