Lease Extended for Broadway Station
The hangout for individuals over 60 years old was thought to be in danger of closure; but the Fargo Park Board reversed course after speaking with the community.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Senior citizens in North Fargo are celebrating after one of their key community spaces was given a new lease on life.
Broadway Station, operated by the Fargo Park District, looked almost certain to close in the near future, as its lease expires in August of this year.
However, the local residents who regularly go to the facility for games, activities, and meals pushed back – and the Fargo Park Board voted unanimously last night to extend that lease for another three years.
Those senior citizens say that they feel the Board and other officials actually took the time to speak with them and find out what makes Broadway Station so important, which was a heartening experience.
“It made us feel like we were getting their attention. The Fargo Park Board – there was at least three of the people off the board that visited us on Wednesday and got the full impression of the people,” said Bill Rastedt.
The district will now turn their focus to finding a new, alternative location for a senior center on the North side of Fargo.
Seniors say they’re okay with the idea, as long as the physical location is close to Broadway Station, because most of them find it incredibly convenient.
