Dardis will not seek another term as West Fargo mayor, former commissioner enters race

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR-KFGO) – West Fargo Mayor Bernie Dardis will not run for a third, four-year term.
Dardis was first elected in 2018 when he defeated long time Mayor Rich Mattern. Dardis is a former business owner and has also worked as a consultant.
His announcement prompted former City Commissioner Eric Gjerdevig to get into the race. He served one term on the commission, but decided not to run again in 2022. Gjerdevig the first to announce for mayor.
The decision by Dardis means West Fargo, Fargo and Moorhead will all elect new mayors.
Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney cannot run again due to term limits. Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson is running for the legislature.
