FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – A criminal investigation into the use of Snapchat to create and share sexually explicit materials by students at Davies High School in Fargo is over.

The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation. It included the serving of search warrants at the school and the seizure of phones belonging to students.

In September 2025, Attorney General Drew Wrigley said BCI was working closely with county and city law enforcement agencies. He held a lengthy news conference at Fargo City Hall. At the time, he said investigators discovered “many” victims. He said some of the materials were real while others were created with the use of artificial intelligence. He said a number of victims were identified and some students were forced to change schools due to harassment.

Results of the investigation were turned over to the Cass County State’s Attorneys Office.

State’s Attorney Kim Hegvik says the investigation has been concluded, but her office will not make any further comment. Hegvik says juvenile cases, records and court proceedings are confidential under state law.

In a statement, a spokeswoman for Fargo Public Schools says as a member of the North Dakota High School Activities Association, the district upholds eligibility rules for student-athletes. She also says the student activity handbook further outlines eligibility standards and consequences for violations.

Citing students privacy laws, the district has no further comment.
